El Dorado Apartments

Application Process

Step 1: Visit El Dorado

All prospective tenants must view the exact apartment for which they are applying.1 This can be done by contacting the resident manager at (805) 544-2154 to discuss availabilities and arrange an appointment. We respect the privacy of our current residents, so please make sure to give the manager reasonable notice before you decide to visit. Please do not disturb current residents!

Step 2: Submit an application

After the resident manager has showed you the apartment, she will refer you to California-West's San Luis Obispo office2 where you may submit an application. The application fee is $20 per resident and all residents are required to submit an application. Processing time is usually 2-5 business days but may be shorter or longer depending on the circumstances.

Since El Dorado's location makes it very attractive to college students, and most college students do not have full time jobs, cosigners with a good credit history and adequate income are usually required for each resident.

Step 3: Put down a deposit

Once your application has been approved, a representative from California-West will contact you and ask for a deposit in the form of a Cashier's Check. You will probably be asked to deliver the deposit within 1-3 days after being approved. After receiving your deposit check we will take your apartment off the market.

Footnotes

1 We do not rent apartments sight-unseen. You may send a representative to view the apartment on your behalf if viewing it yourself is too inconvenient. The rationale behind this rule is that people are sometimes disappointed by things that we may consider insignificant, such as the color of the carpet, the type of refrigerator, or any number of other things. These types of issues are much easier to deal with before we accept your application rather than after you have decided to move in and we have taken the apartment off the market.

2 California-West, Inc. is responsible for managing the El Dorado Apartments. All managerial decisions, including the approval of tenant applications, are handled out of the office located at 1380 Broad Street.
